Australia Awards Alumni Grant
Posted: 19 December 2023
The purpose of the Australia Awards Alumni Grants is to facilitate the professional development of Australia Awards alumni, supporting innovative projects that advance Mongolia’s priority sectors and strengthen Australia and Mongolia relations. On December 15, 2023, two Australia Awards alumni were awarded the Australia Awards Alumni Grant-2023.
“Women in Agriculture” Short Course alumna Gantuya Jargalsaikhan’s initiative-“Achieving Solutions by Changing Attitudes” aims to address the climate crisis through the presentation of climate-smart solutions and the perspectives of livestock allies, farmers, and herders. Furthermore, by means of social media-based platforms and hash tagged posts, the “frontline voices” of youth, scientists, small business owners, and policy experts who are driving positive change in the livestock industry would be disseminated via story sharing and the exchange of practices.
Khishigjargal Enkhbayar, a graduate of the Short Course “Women in Executive Leadership Development” in 2021, has put forth the proposal “Earth School Mongolia” with the aim of advancing environmental education among children and young individuals. A series of events has been planned, including trainer training, a call for partnerships, Earth School in action-related activities, and a demonstration day. As a result of the project, 20-25 environmental advocates will receive training, and 10 eco clubs will strengthen their knowledge on environment and climate change. These clubs will then initiate at least 20 small-scale projects to apply the insights and knowledge they have gained. Furthermore, to assist eco clubs and young environmentalists in organizing their Demo Day event, recordings of webinars designed for public education will be made available, in addition to sample curriculum development on climate and environment.
