Community Development Project
A unique feature of the WLP is its community development projects designed and implemented by program participants. These projects complement participants’ learning experiences by providing opportunities for them to practice newly-acquired leadership skills and at the same time contribute to development in their communities.
Since the WLP launch in October 2016, four teams have formed, each with a unique project to address an important social problems the members identified. At a WLP networking event on January 20, the four teams introduced their respective projects and networked with their stakeholders. The projects being implemented are:
· Healthy pregnancy
· Safe route to school
· From disability to ability
· Education box
Notable guests at the event included His Excellency Ambassador John Langtry, Australia Awards Country Manager Ms Yu. Tsetsgee, Head of the Zorig Foundation Ms S. Oyun and participants from previous WLP cohorts and trainers.
This year thanks to a grant awarded by DFAT’s Gender Equality Fund, WLP participants have greater scope to implement more impactful and scalable community projects.
