Mozzies Fund Agreement Signing Ceremony

Posted: 30 March 2014

Australia Awards - Mongolia provides a grant to Mozzies members in their professional development. Grant signing ceremony was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on 16th April 2014.

The Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) and the Government of Mongolia recognise the Mongolia – Australia Society (Mozzies) as a highly successful alumni association. The alumni network has contributed considerably to building a strong relationship and enduring links between Australia and Mongolia across the public and private sectors and civil society. In recognition of the important role the Mozzies plays in maintaining this sound relationship, the new phase of the Australia Awards Mongolia Program (Program), has allocated AUD 20,000 per annum for Mozzies professional development activities, particularly focusing on graduates of Australia Awards, including Australia Development Scholars and recipients of the leadership award.

A Mozzies Fund Agreement signing ceremony took place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on 16 April 2014. The following representatives attended the signing: Mr M. Enkhbold, Mozzies President, Ms L. Ariunaa, Mozzies Executive Director, Ms N. Zoljargal, DFAT Development Cooperation Program Officer, Ms P. Yanjinlkham, Program Coordinating Committee member, Ms Tsetsgee Yundendorj, Australia Awards Country Program Manager, Ms Kate Nethercott Wilson, Program Gender Adviser, Mozzies board members and Program staff.

The Mozzies are important contributors to many aspects of the Program but especially their support to returning graduates. They provide personal and professional guidance and help establish networks to help them apply their new skills and knowledge to assist Mongolia’s development.

This support for the Mozzies will strengthen their links with DFAT and the Program. The funding will allow them to plan activities to showcase their links with Australia and provide opportunities for new graduates to join a professional organisation that allows them to foster their skills and leadership. It also provides an opportunity to link with the broader Australia Awards Alumni network and with institutions and organisations in Australia.
