Inclusion Strategy

The Australian Government values contributions from all people in Mongolia. It seeks equity and participation by men, women, ethnic populations, people with disabilities (PWD) and people living in provinces.

Applications for Australia Awards are encouraged from all suitably-qualified individuals in the priority areas and who meet eligibility requirements.

Eligibility requirements for applicants with declared and verified disabilities have changed to try to attract more applications from this group. The changes are:

Work experience requirements

Applicants with declared and verified disabilities will be considered eligible if they do not have two years’ work experience leading into 1 February 2023.

Applicants with disabilities are encouraged to contact the Australia Awards-Mongolia office for more information, or if they require assistance in completing their applications.

They are also encouraged to contact a disability support organisation with special support services for their disabilities for additional support. These organisations can liaise with the Australia Awards-Mongolia office to arrange reasonable accommodation to support applicants with disabilities during the application process (and selection stages).

The Australia Awards-Mongolia team will liaise with disability support organisations to conduct information sessions for applicants with disabilities. These sessions will explain the application and selection processes and advise of support available to applicants during the application and selection stages and if they are nominated for an Australia Awards Scholarships.

The Equity Pathways Plan guides the Australia Awards-Mongolia program to operationalise an enhanced focus on equity and inclusion across the Awards cycle and all program elements, drawing upon mandates enshrined in Mongolian and Australian policy.

The objectives of the Equity Pathways Plan are to:

  • Ensure shared, informed commitment to and accountability for equity and inclusion across program management, advisors and staff
  • Strengthen the awareness and knowledge of Australia Awards participants and staff about social exclusion issues and inclusion strategies
  • Improve the capacity and commitment to applying inclusive and non-discriminatory practices throughout the Program
  • Enhance knowledge and understanding about GESI issues and practice through effective Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL).
